The Office of the Inspector General Evaluation and Inspections (E&I) Division is seeking Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, or Statistics majors with strong writing skills and ability to perform qualitative analysis, to join our team as a Policy Analyst Intern.
This position is not a permanent telework position. Students will be expected to be in the office in accordance with OIG guidance and mission requirements.
If selected for this position, you will gain access to invaluable work experience as part of a well-respected team that is responsible for evaluations, inspections, and reviews of DOJ programs. As a Policy Analyst Intern, you will actively participate in and assist teams that review DOJ programs and functional areas to assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, or participate in sensitive and complex congressional or DOJ management inquiries referred for review. This position will also provide some administrative support to the division. Formal and/or on-the-job training will be provided as needed. Duties will include, but are not limited to:Conducting research;
Interviewing employees, senior managers, and others involved with the program, activity, or function under review;
Collecting and analyzing relevant information from diverse data sources;
Evaluating internal and external policy, and applying qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to assess programs and processes;
Communicating complex and/or controversial issues both in writing and verbally to colleagues or management;
Creating recommendations to facilitate organizational or process changes;
Analyzing management responses to report findings and recommendations and preparing formal replies;
Researching and investigating new or improved business and management practices for application to agency programs or operations;
Receiving calls to the office and referring inquiries to appropriate employees, providing support for virtual and in-person meetings, and assisting with technical solutions for software and equipment;
Reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness and typing or formatting correspondence and documents to adhere to rules, operations or business practices of the organization;
Performing a variety of duties involving recordkeeping, data reporting, and information and property management; and
