This senior leadership position leads the NSA Strategic Communications program and is a direct advisor to the Director of NSA and the Board of Directors and is responsible for developing strategies and products to disseminate key messages to the internal workforce, members of the media, the general public and other interested stakeholders. The incumbent will be the principal architect of external outreach designed to meet the Agency's goal of building public Trust and Confidence in NSA.

Responsibilities for the Senior Executive Leader - Chief, Strategic Communications include(s):
- Serve as the primary National Security Agency (NSA) spokesperson.
- Lead a workforce of government and contractor personnel and effectively coordinate the work of others across a broad range of agency services to achieve desired outcomes.
- Oversee the team that conducts the daily operations of media relations, internal communications, and public outreach to ensure NSA effectively communicates and targets key information to the media, the NSA workforce, external stakeholders, general public and other key audiences.
- Direct the work of state-of-the-art graphics, production, live events photography, web design and audio/visual teams.
- Plan, direct and oversee NSA's public web presence and communications outreach, keeping NSA communications at the leading edge of effective, high impact approaches and technologies.
- Direct and continually refine the maximum efficiency and effect end-to-end media-related processes and procedures.
- Develop and execute innovative ways to keep NSA leadership and key personnel informed of open source media matters, especially during crisis and contingency circumstances.
- Counsel and advise the NSA senior leadership team on all matters with respect to public engagement with a bias toward a proactive media approach.
- Develop, sustain and mature working relationships with public affairs counterparts across government.
- Liaise and collaborate with public affairs staff across the Intelligence Community to integrate communications initiatives.
- Provide advice to professional staff, evaluate performance, collaborate on goal setting, and provide feedback and guidance regarding personal and professional development opportunities.
- Manage, oversee and justify requirements for Strategic Communications personnel, contractual, security, logistics, acquisition and budget.
- Develop, present and execute a comprehensive, integrated communications strategy and budget, supported by measurable goals and objectives.
- Provide expert knowledge and personnel to support the development and execution of media training for the NSA workforce. Develop and sustain a diverse cadre of personnel in a cross section of NSA organizations who are qualified to represent NSA in direct media engagements.

Public Relations, Crisis Management, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other related field required (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum ten years of experience in public affairs/communication in U.S. government or relevant private sector work; with demonstrated understanding of applying public affairs regulations and practices in a Federal government, preferably Department of Defense, setting.
Demonstrated credible crisis management training and experience.
Impeccable oral and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, filter and synthesize data, and produce clear, logical and concise products.
Record of success in building teams and leading collaboratively and in working effectively with others in a diverse, complex, and evolving environment.
The ability to think strategically, critically and creatively, and to instill those qualities into the public affairs workforce.
