Veterans who have completed a degree and have an intervening period of obligated service of at least four years in the uniformed services, the two-year eligibility period begins on the date of discharge or release from the uniformed service.
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-9. As a/an Program Assistant (College Graduate), you will:
To be eligible, you must have within the previous two years, received a baccalaureate or graduate degree from an institution of higher education as defined in 20 U.S.C. 1001(a) no later than 2 years from date of application or will graduate no later than 9 months from the date of application.
Veterans who have completed a degree and have an intervening period of obligated service of at least four years in the uniformed services, the two-year eligibility period begins on the date of discharge or release from the uniformed service. The intervening period of uniformed service must have prevented applying within the standard two-year period after completing a degree. You MUST submit a copy of DD-214 showing the duration and dates of service that precluded you from applying due to a military service obligation.
Individuals in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) who have a four-year service obligation after graduation are eligible to apply within two years of completing the four-year service obligation. You MUST submit documentation outlining your service obligation.
Candidates will be selected for a job assigned to one of the official duty stations listed in this announcement. Failure to report to duty at the location for which the candidate is selected may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.
Key Requirements:
You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements no later than 9 months from the date of application. However, the education and qualifications must be completed successfully before an applicant may be appointed.
Specialized Experience for the GS-9: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following:
- Communication skills to obtain data and/or information to support program analysis.; AND
- Preparation of documents and/or reports.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
