This position is located in the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS). Works directly with the Director to support all aspects of the daily work routine. Plans, organizes, arranges, and maintains the Director's schedules and calendars, including scheduling meetings, appointments, speaking engagements, and travel (may include domestic and international) arrangements and detailed travel itineraries. Coordinates meeting locations, dates, participants, and agendas.
Provides a wide range of administrative support such as, assisting the Director and other BJS leadership in obtaining or using information technology within the office; assisting in establishing and monitoring contracts or other special arrangements for administrative, logistical, or other support provided to BJS staff.
Reviews and edits documents prepared for the Director based on knowledge of the goals and priorities. Prepares correspondence, or reviews correspondence prepared by others for consistency with the Director's views, perspectives, and communications style.
Researches and resolves problems of a common or immediate nature, independently or in concert with others. Conducts studies, analyses, and evaluations of the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of office operations, and presents ideas, suggestions, and proposals for improvement.
