VISN 2 has a combined operating budget of $3.5 Billion and is comprised of 9 facilities consisting of 5 Healthcare Systems and 4 VA Medical Centers, a network of 46 Community Based Outpatient Clinics across 76 counties throughout New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. VISN 2 provides personalized, proactive, patient-centered care to more than 500,000 Veterans throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The network provides a wide range of services to include, but not limited to primary, specialty and mental health care, homeless outreach and support, telehealth technologies and services in partnership with community care providers. The network works in partnership with a myriad of academic affiliations to include physician, nursing, pharmacy, social work, health care administration, and physical therapy.
The incumbent serves as the Women Veteran Program Manager (WVPM) for the VA NY/NJ Healthcare Network (VISN 2). The incumbent serves as WVPM 50% and provides direct patient care 50%. The WVPM has primary responsibility is to oversee and drive positive changes in the delivery of healthcare services to Women Veterans within multiple healthcare delivery systems throughout the VISN and with other Networks within VHA. The WVPM plans, establishes, integrates, and coordinates access to comprehensive medical care for women Veterans and achieves program goals and outcomes. This includes care for gender- specific conditions and mental health conditions in a variety of settings, such as primary care, specialty clinics, mental health, and inpatient care. The WVPM demonstrates commitment to principles of High Reliability Organizations and servant leadership.
The position operates under broadly delegated authority and requires taking independent action to develop and modify objectives and boundaries of the assignment as needs or as opportunities dictate. The incumbent's practice is of a management or executive level nature, comprised of complex leadership and administrative components, associated with critical health care issues and activities that influence the Network, VHA, VA Central Office of Women Health Services, and the organizational mission. The WVPM visits all VISN2 medical centers at least semi-annually, meets with program staff, members of the medical center leadership, or other primary care, mental health or specialty service staff to ensure that the coordination and collaboration of patient centered care is being provided to all Women Veterans. Additional site visits may be done to interview candidates for new positions, to provide staff training, attend military/community partner meetings, and to assist in the standardization and/or development of new programs, as needed
The VISN 2 Women Veteran Program Manager functions as a clinician and provides direct patient care 50% of the time and performs other duties as assigned.
