Supervises a group of employees performing work ranging from GS-11 to GS-14 or equivalent level. Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.
Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Plans, schedules, and assigns work to subordinates. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members; provides feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members. Recommends or approves appointments, selections, or reassignments to positions appropriate to the selection authority delegated. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and program activities.
Plans, designs, and oversees agency-wide policies, programs, and procedures governing internal and external development and dissemination of statistical and informational products.
Works with statisticians and management in identifying emerging trends in crime and criminal justice for setting publishing priorities.
As the agency authority in the development and implementation of guidelines in the publication area, adapts appropriate advanced technologies to develop new approaches that create a unified publication and communication strategy.
Serves as an expert authority and leader in a statistical or technical area, provides advice to managers, statisticians, analysts, and other staff on technical and statistical applications, and identifies areas where complementary data or information can be used to expand analysis and understanding of criminal justice issues.
Designs, develops, and maintains systems for converting written products into formats for distribution on multiple platforms, such as the website, social media, and news outlets. Participates in planning, development, and maintenance activities associated with modes of dissemination.
