Minimum Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

In addition to meeting the Minimum Education Requirement above, applicants must have the experience or education listed below or a combination of both.
GS-07
For the GS-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes: Applying knowledge of programming, software development, or problem solving to support software and system development; participating in the development of innovative software solutions for projects; and developing, with assistance, software systems using knowledge of techniques, procedures, and processes such as data structures, service oriented architecture, software engineering, and computer communication.

For the GS-11 you must have at least one year experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes: Analyzing needs and product requirements to create software designs and code based on a specified rule or set of rules; participating in the planning, designing and implementation for segments of IT programs; developing and implementing major component system testing strategies; utilizing modern programming languages such as Python, SAS and Java Script Frameworks, and other advanced computer engineering techniques.

Education: 3 academic years of progressively higher level graduate education, leading to a LL.M. or doctoral degree.
GS-12
In addition to meeting the Minimum Education Requirement above, applicants must have the experience or education listed below or a combination of both.
For the GS-12 you must have at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes: Developing software systems and system documentation; developing software solutions for IT projects; modifying software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance; and conducting application updates and production releases on IT systems.
Education cannot be substituted for experience for this position at this grade level.
