About CRS
The Congressional Research Service (CRS), a service unit of the Library of Congress, works exclusively for the United States Congress providing policy and legal analysis to committees and Members of both the House and Senate, regardless of party affiliation.
The Office of Publishing (PUB) manages the distribution of selected CRS products to congressional users and the public as mandated by Congress. In doing so, PUB provides oversight of editorial, quality assurance, and visual design services and provides research support in the development of GIS-based content. PUB also oversees the curation and tagging of CRS products published online; provides coordination of data analytics to measure the use of such products; and coordinates product development initiatives in collaboration with other CRS divisional offices.
Responsibilities
The selectee for this temporary position will provide publishing support on CRS products to ensure they meet approved standards; correct formatting inconsistencies in document files; check for discrepancies between multiple formats of CRS products; troubleshoot and resolve issues with the tagging of content in documents, such as the application of styles; apply and format table notes; resolve track changes; assist with software training; convert legacy CRS products into newer formats for posting online; and use specified systems to track CRS products and workflow.
U.S. citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract for this particular position.
At present, the Library of Congress will not enforce an earlier policy to require all employees be vaccinated against COVID-19. However, employees are required to certify their vaccination status, which is used to plan and implement workplace safety protocols, such as those related to mask-wearing, physical distancing, testing, travel, and quarantine. Upon request, new hires may be required to show proof of vaccination to the Health Services Division. Library employees who are not vaccinated may be required to undergo testing for COVID-19 every seven days.

The position requires a college degree or at least one (1) year of applicable experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the federal service or at a comparable level of difficulty outside the federal service.

The tour of duty for this position is full-time, temporary. The position may be eligible for extension depending on business need, budget and performance.

Relocation expenses will not be authorized for the person(s) selected under this vacancy announcement.
Although it is the Library's policy to afford the maximum pay benefit to employees when setting rates of pay, a new appointee who has had no previous Federal service will generally be paid the minimum step of the grade.
