Due to COVID-19, the Bureau of Economic Analysis is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 30 calendar days. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.

BAND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: Band II (GS-9 Level) To qualify for the band II (GS-9 level), you must meet the basic requirements listed above and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-7 level) or band II. Examples of qualifying experience include using computer software programs; compiling and assembling statistical material; evaluating and interpreting economic information to ensure data quality; identifying data discrepancies and irregularities; collecting and analyzing economic data from a primary or variety of sources; and managing assignments in an academic or professional environment.

2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
BAND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: Band III (GS-11/12 Level): You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/band (GS-9) equivalent level or band II. Examples of specialized experience includes using computer software programs; compiling and assembling statistical material and applying statistical techniques and analysis to data; possessing responsibility for collecting economic data from a primary or variety of sources; manipulating or analyzing economic data; preparing statistical tables and reports; conducting independent research and preparing preliminary write-ups of findings; and locating and collecting relevant data to analyze a specified problem.

EDUCATION: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
