The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a firefighter assigned to drive and operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity and lead the regularly assigned crew of less than three firefighters engaged in structural and airfield firefighting and crash/rescue operations, and assist in the reduction and/or elimination of potential fire hazards. The incumbent will work a regular tour of duty of 72 hours per week consisting of 48 hours on and 48 hours off per shift. Required to participate in a physical fitness program and pass an initial and annual physical. Incumbent is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week unless TDY or on leave. May be required to work the Fire Alarm and Communication Center (FACC).
NOTE: The Salary Range indicated in this announcement is for the basic GS pay scale and is not reflective of special firefighter pay for the applicable tour of duty.
Must be certified by the DoD Firefighter Certification system or equivalent as Airport Firefighter (Includes Firefighter I, II),HAZAMT Operations (Includes HAZMAT Awareness), Apparatus Driver Operator-Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Apparatus Driver Operator - Pumper, Apparatus Driver Operator - Mobile Water Supply.

Individuals from Areas 5,6, and 7 will serve a one year trial period and then convert to permanent status.
Title 32 Technicians Only: By accepting this Title 5 Permanent appointment you will convert to Title 5 excepted service. You will not have rehire rights back to Title 32 unless you compete and are selected for a Title 32 position.
The Pease ANGB Fire Department of the 157th Civil Engineer Squadron currently has 35 full-time employee authorizations, and is responsible for protecting one of the Air Force's newest aircraft, the KC-46A Pegasus. Pease ANGB is situated at the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease, a joint-use international airport.
