Duties
The major duties of the Interdisciplinary - Historian/Landscape Architect include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepares, reviews, evaluates, and/or edits nominations for historic properties of national significance for designation by the Secretary of the Interior as National Historic Landmarks.
- Coordinates with park units and regional offices staff; Federal, tribal, state, and local officials; property owners; preservation partners; and the public on sensitive issues relating to the effects of NHL designation, boundaries, property owner rights, maintenance, and related issues.
- Prepares, reviews, evaluates, and/or edits National Historic Landmark theme studies, context studies, and special resource studies.
- Supports meetings of National Historic Landmarks Committee of the National Park System Advisory Board.

- A combination of education and experience. For each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design.
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
- EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include the following activities: Experience applying historic preservation principles, practices, methods, concepts, laws, and regulations sufficient to support the identification, evaluation, and documentation of nationally significant properties; experience in a social science field such as history, architectural history, or a related field such as historic preservation or landscape architecture; and experience using laws and regulations governing historic preservation, and familiarity with cultural resource management concepts and practices. You must include hours per week worked.

Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary within an office or library environment.
