IT Specialists (INFOSEC) are a mission critical occupation for HRSA. These positions are responsible for the analysis of system and/or security requirements, the development and implementation of mission critical applications for the agency's Information Technology operations.

As a Branch Chief, you will serve as a recognized technical expert in IT security and provide critical program development and project leadership contribution to designated DESAM operations and strategic initiatives. This work affects the ability of OIT/DESAM to provide quality IT support and in the delivery of cost-effective, customer focused products and services that support HRSA business needs to mission requirements.

Specifically, you will:

Supervise the staff assigned the Branch, and provide feedback/suggestion to DESAM management on all Branch activities relative to Enterprise Solutions and Application Management.
Analyze information security systems and applications to recommend security measures for protecting information against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data modifications or less.
Plan, research design, implement and maintain robust security principles in the delivery of all IT systems.
Manage for all aspects of project life cycle activities in the assigned DESAM Branch.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS are defined as qualifications that an applicant must possess, at a minimum, to be eligible to participate in an assessment for hire or promotion under the competitive system, e.g., education, experience, and/or other requirements (e.g., licensure). Examples of minimum qualifying experience equal to the GS-13 level include performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis:

AND

Ensuring that IT projects adhere to industry standards for IT security controls, processes and guidelines to protect an organization's systems infrastructure;

AND

Implementing and maintaining custom and enterprise applications using Microsoft products, technologies, services, and software including collaboration and Business Intelligence technologies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
