As the Deputy Director, Office of Investigations, you will assist the Director in providing leadership and direction for all activities of the Office of Investigations which serves as an independent investigative unit within the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). You will be responsible for the management, direction and conduct of investigations of all allegations of "wrongdoing" by licensees, their contractors, vendors, and license applicants. You will assist the Director in the direction and management of the investigative program to ensure that investigations are conducted, documented, and finalized in accordance with applicable Federal laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines. You will also serve as a principal point of contact with the Department of Justice for referral of cases within their purview. This position authorizes you to carry a firearm if deputized as a Special Deputy United States Marshal under the blanket Deputation provision of the U.S. Marshals Service. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (18 U.S.C, Section 922 (g) (9)). Candidates who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not qualified for this position.

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GG-14) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes experience that demonstrates progressively responsible criminal investigative experience indicating a thorough knowledge of investigative techniques, laws of evidence and rules of criminal procedure. This knowledge is equivalent to that gained by the completion of an undergraduate program leading to a baccalaureate degree supplemented by 10 years of experience as a criminal investigator in a Federal law enforcement agency. You must possess a thorough knowledge of relevant sections of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, as well as those of Title 18 U.S. Code. At least one year of this experience must have been at the next lower grade level or equivalent.
