Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as the primary studio tour manager, including managing all tour logistics and equipment, recruiting, training, and scheduling the tour guides for the daily public tour, managing all aspects of group tour requests, with special focus on opportunities to feature VOA experts as post-tour speakers.
- Serves as VOA PR webmaster and social media content specialist
- Creates, edits, and manages VOA's external organizational website content via a custom content management system, including articles, news releases, media statements, fact sheets and other collateral and communications about major programming changes and enhancements, and staff awards and accomplishments to enhance the understanding of the agency's global mission and impact, to the appropriate place on the site.
- Provides subject matter expertise on a website content management system designed for news publishing but adapted for a corporate or organizational site.
- Manages VOA PR social media program, including brainstorming, pitching, and conceptualizing original content ideas for social media platforms that highlight VOA's accomplishments, initiatives, and innovative coverage.
- Designs, builds, and illustrates graphical elements for social media platforms as needed (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and others as applicable).
- Responds to written and oral information requests from the news media, stakeholders and the public, often requiring detailed explanations of VOA's activities, policies, positions, performance, mission, or responses to criticisms.
- Participates in the research, development, execution and evaluation of VOA Public Relations communications policies, goals, and procedures.
- Manages the VOA PR Intranet pages, including designing, writing, editing and posting current and accurate content about agency programs, including the studio tour, the speakers' bureau, and programming highlights.
