• Formulate and prepare interpretations and opinions regarding the multiemployer pension plan insurance program, financial assistance, multiemployer pension plan close outs, reports, premium rates, claims and litigation.
• Coordinate with IRS, the Labor Department and other agencies on Title IV multiemployer legal matters.
• Provide legal counsel and assistance to the program offices in connection with their cases; review and examine of contracts, legislative proposals and other legal documents.
• Conduct litigation in the various U.S. District Courts, Courts of Appeal, Bankruptcy Courts and other courts as appropriate jurisdiction.
• As Division supervisor, direct overall responsibility of personnel assigned to the Division and over the administration of its functions and activities.

To qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of experience at the GS-14 grade level (in the Federal service) or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level (in the private sector). This experience must include experience in Multi-Employer Plans insurance program under Title IV of ERISA and at least two of the following: (a) Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law; (b) multiemployer litigation; (c) Administrative Law; (d) Corporate Transactional Law; and (e) supervising or leading staff involved in multiemployer pension plan insurance program. Examples of qualifying experience may include: rendering legal advice and services under Title IV of the ERISA of 1974, as amended, with respect to questions, regulations, practices; reviewing legal analyses and pre-trial pleadings, including complaints, answers, motions, memoranda, and briefs preparing interpretive administrative orders; drafting legal policies, negotiating, or examining legal documents, provisions of the Internal Revenue Code relating to pension plans, proposed legislation or regulation; and working with multiemployer plan insurance programs that involve employer liabilities for pension benefits.

Education Requirements: You must possess a J.D. degree from a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA)
