Current students enrolled in accredited educational institutions from high school to graduate level. Includes internships, pathways and other student programs.
All U.S. citizens who are accepted for enrollment or are currently enrolled in a degree-seeking (diploma, 1 year certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis with an anticipated graduation date AFTER April. 1, 2022; with an academic major in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, information systems (and related courses in IT), management, or marketing; have at least a cumulative (overall) 3.0 GPA; and are in good academic standing.
As an intern in DOF, the duties assigned are contingent upon the type of internship. The internships offered and duties assigned to that internship are listed below: Assignments can range from work on financial reporting and analysis, accounting and tax policy, assessment collections, investments, payment processing, administering the FDIC’s travel and relocation program, coordinating the budget formulation and execution process, and management of internal controls and operational risks.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Registration with the Selective Service.

Qualifying Experience
CG-04: 1 year of work experience performing duties in such areas as financial analysis and reporting, business writing and editing, financial system management and development, accounting, budgeting, and general business management support functions. In addition, you should be proficient with standard office automation and collaboration software tools (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, etc.).
To qualify for this program, applicants must: (1) be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree seeking program at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis; (2) have a minimum cumulative (overall) GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0; and (3) be in good academic standing. Education requirements are established by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and must be met by close of announcement. Below are the requirements by grade:
For CG-4: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree.
Note: One full academic year of undergraduate is 30 semester hours. One full academic year of
graduate/vocational/trades/technical/high school education is the number of credit hours determined by
the college/university/school. A certificate program must be a 1 year academic program if attending at a
full-time status.
The position is an Excepted Service, Not-To-Exceed 1 Year and will begin the Summer of the 2021 academic year and may be extended contingent student continue to meet all pathways requirements upon completion of educational/degree requirements.
This position requires applicants to be able to work a part-time schedule throughout the academic year.
After successful completion of the program requirements and based on FDIC's needs, the selectee(s) may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent position based upon an evaluation of performance and completion of at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Pathways Internship Program. However, service in the FDIC Internship Program confers no right to further employment in the competitive or excepted service
If selected, you may be required to serve a trial period.
