The Program Specialist assists with administrative activities that support managers and program officers in the Division of Preservation and Access. The duties of this position are focused on supporting the review of complex grant applications administered by the Division, including making analytical decisions and recommendations on actions as may be appropriate as to assure accurate administrative control for compliance with applicable Division and Endowment regulations, procedures, and policies as well as:

At the GS-11 level Qualified candidates must possess:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level or equivalent experience; or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: administration of higher education, and cultural heritage grants or programs; screening grant applications and proposals; providing technical guidance on grants laws and regulations; utilizing databases to prepare reports and statistical data; assisting in the evaluation of humanities related projects, programs, and administrative problems; and writing articles and newsletters on humanities topics for website publications.

In addition to the specialized experience described in this announcement, applicants must also posses the following in order to be considered for this position:
-Professional experience working in a cultural heritage organization, university, or with grants.
A Bachelor's degree in a discipline of the humanities is required (A Masters degree in the humanities, library & information science, museum studies, or a related field is preferred).
