AOC: DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: Z5CAB/Direct Hire Authority for Shortage Category/Critical Need for DoD Police Officer vacancies worldwide Authority, 5 U.S.C. 9902(b)(2), 6/6/2017. Characterization: Mission critical, hard to fill, requires specialized skills, and shortage of candidates.
Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy.
Agreement to Continue in Service (CSA) Agency requires 36 months of continued employment after the completion of required training for FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and g CFR 410.309. Failure to voluntarily complete length of employment can subject employee to reimburse the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) pain in connection with training.
Due to significant training requirements levied by DoD, SECNAV and OPNAV, incumbent must be trained and qualified to conduct Guardmount and pre/post watch training of other LE personnel before, during and after the assigned shift.
Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation.
May be required to respond to other military installations within the region or off installation events when directed by higher authority to a disaster scene or during a national emergency.
Must obtain and maintain a CPR certification and utilize a portable heart defibrillator where available.
Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English.
Must meet OPM hearing and vision requirements to include distinguishing basic shades of color.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
