Provides guidance, consultation, and staff assistance in performance reviews. Reviews and evaluates quality indicators for clinical and administrative programs. Review reports submitted by staff and recommends appropriate action. Utilizes current trends and relevant theory to identify, analyze, and resolve problem to ensure quality care. Analyzes and evaluates, the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals, objectives and compliance with VHA policy,
The Joint Commission standards and other internal and external regulatory agency requirements. Monitors and analyzes program performance data to determine program effectiveness and identify opportunities for program improvement. Develops and leads LEAN activities to decrease waste and improve processes. This includes New Employee Orientation, Resident Orientation, and ongoing education for staff at all levels throughout the organization. Oversees Performance Measures for the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Health Care System. Coordinating with service-level leadership throughout the facility. Serves as resource/consultant on facility committees/task forces that focus on SAIL and other performance improvement metrics.
Develops and coordinates investigations in cited complaints and/or deficiencies and respond to regulatory agencies with required plan of action. Assists Executive and facility leadership in the setting of institutional priorities related to Performance Improvement. Coordinates the measurement and analysis of data to ensure that improvements in process for regulatory compliance have been sustained over time. Monitors all VA and CMS Quality Metrics including EPRP, IPEC, Mission Act Quality Standards and CMS Hospital Compare.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

The Birmingham VA Health Care System (BVAHCS) is a 313-bed acute tertiary care facility located in the historic Southside district of the city. The facility provides acute tertiary medical and surgical care to Veterans of Alabama and surrounding states. The medical center serves as a referral center for this population area with 141 operating beds currently. Recent construction provides state-of-the-art facilities and equipment in all clinical programs. Care is provided in practically all medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. Most staff physicians have joint appointments with VA and its primary affiliation, University of Alabama at Birmingham. The BVAHCS operates nine Community Based Outpatient Clinics in North Alabama.
