The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties associated with the collection and remittance of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). Former Public Land Corp (PLC) Member, Interchange Agreement
The primary responsibility of this position is the assistance with the management of the park fee program. The major duties include managing daily operations of the fee program including training new or returning employees, providing leadership, managing schedules, and providing oversight. This position conducts remits, maintains records and inventories, and conducts audits. The position also performs general office tasks, such as filing documents, answering phones and responding to written and/or telephone information requests. The position will sometimes operate a point of sales system and/or cash register, performs opening and closing procedures and shift reports independently. Other duties include the collection and handling of money for the sale of cave tour tickets and federal recreation passes. The position is stationed in the Visitor Center building and will serve as the visitor point of contact, answering questions and providing visitor resource information as needed.
CAREER SEASONAL: Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will be guaranteed a minimum of 6 months work each year (summer months) with the possibility of 6 months in non-pay status (winter months), depending on the available funding and operational needs for the year. An annual Career Seasonal Agreement will be provided to you each year outlining your planned paid/non-pay time for the year. In 2021 you will work from approximatelyJanuary through the end of October, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement.

Jewel Cave National Monument is located in the southern Black Hills of southwestern South Dakota. It lies approximately 13 miles west of Custer, SD and 24 miles east of Newcastle, WY. It is most noted for its significant underground resources, as well as being recognized as the third longest cave in the world with over 200 miles of mapped and surveyed passages. Its surface features showcase a forested landscape, interspersed with open meadows and wildland fire scars. Limited shopping and medical facilities are available in the nearby gateway communities; however, full service amenities are available in Rapid City, SD, which is located around 50 miles northeast of Custer. Climates range from below freezing in the winter season to mid-90s during the summer months.
