As a STUDENT TRAINEE (FIELD EXAMINER) GS-0299-7, your typical work assignments may include:
Pathways Student Internship Program Education Requirement:
1. Must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate on a full or half-time basis. NOTE: You MUST provide proof that you are currently enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in the next academic term on a full-time or part-time basis.
B. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program.
C. Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
D. Must be a citizen of the U.S. (or lawfully admitted to the U.S. as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed under Immigration law, and able to be employed under the appropriations ban on employment of non-citizens).

This is an Excepted Service appointment. Upon graduation, depending on the qualifications and the agency's need the student may be converted without a break in service to a permanent appointment in the competitive service, to a position that has a career ladder target up to the GS-13 depending on the office the student is selected to work in and provided the student is a U.S. citizen who has worked at least 640 hours in an appropriate program and has received a favorable recommendation for retention. There is no guarantee of a permanent position in the competitive service following this internship.
If selected, you will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement. Interns may work full-time or part-time during the school year (based on agency needs) while continuing their education.
You will be in a trial period throughout your entire Pathways Internship appointment. If selected, you will be required to complete a Declaration for Federal Employment (OF-306) to determine your suitability for Federal employments and to authorize a background investigation.
