NOTE: This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed thirteen (13) months). Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than one (1) year but not more than four (4)). Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the four (4) year maximum). Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Electrical:
Identifies basic electrical problems and performs the repairs/upgrades required to ensure
safe working and living environments throughout the facility.
Performs routine repairs of electrical fixtures, devices and equipment requiring the removal and replacement, etc.
Repairs or replaces switches, controls, circuit breakers, pumps, receptacles, lighting fixtures, cord and plug assemblies.
Carpentry:
Operates and use a wide variety of specialty woodworking machines and tools. Operate
and use a variety of tools by setting-up, adjusting, and maintaining tools to meet
required specifications.
Plans measure and lay out carpentry materials using broad knowledge of wood materials and substitutes, with general and precision woodworking techniques.
Plumbing:
Repairs plumbing systems. Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility,
supply, and disposal systems.
Repairs equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems and
fixtures including; water closets; urinals; lavatories; tubs, fire sprinkler systems, faucets;
hose bibs; and showers.
Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches, to plan and lay out the routing,
placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation, of systems and equipment. Uses
tools and equipment such as plumb bobs, mercury gauges, dividers, closet augers,
hydrostatic pumps, and lead pots.
Mechanical / Heating and Refrigeration Systems:
Maintenance Mechanic should have some experience in the operation, installation,
repair, modification and preventive maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning
(HVAC) and refrigeration equipment/systems including their associated controls.
Interprets blueprints, sketches, manufacturers' specifications, and technician manuals, and be knowledgeable in shop math and standard formulas.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm
