WHAT IS THE LARGE BUSINESS AND INTERNATIONAL (LB&I) DIVISION OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE? The Large Business and International (LB&I) business unit provides service and enforcement activities to support tax compliance of businesses and related entities with assets of $10 million or more, as well as small U.S. businesses engaged in international, U.S. citizens abroad, and foreign persons and businesses with a U.S. tax requirement.
WHAT DOES A SENIOR ADVISOR DO? The Senior Advisor has primary responsibility to provide strategy-level analysis and advice on significant pass through issues to the Practice Area Director in coordination with others as appropriate. The Senior Advisor coordinates closely with and serves as a resource for all organizations within Large Business and International (LB&I). The Senior Advisor reports directly to the Director for the Pass Through Entities Practice Area.

GS-15 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Planning, strategizing and presenting a tax position on behalf of your client or organization to the IRS exam division, Appeals or US Tax Court on Partnerships, S Corporations and high income individuals examinations; Recommending public opinions in Partnership, S Corporation and/or high income individual taxation to major accounting and tax organizations, including comments on new legislation to the US Treasury; Analyzing major issues of strategic importance and develop new approaches and approve policy options and action plans of current Partnership, S Corporation and/or high income individual tax law in the flow-through entity area, and Advising senior executives in implementing major tax and estate planning or compliance strategies involving pass-through entities and/or high income individuals and in leading teams toward the successful implementation of those strategies.
