The GS-12 salary range starts at $82,696.00 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Specialized experience is experience which demonstrates expert knowledge of the field of historic preservation i.e., historic building research, survey, analysis, construction and architecture and related disciplines such as archaeology, materials conservation and preservation theory and law; ability to effectively lead others in managing major historic preservation projects; knowledge of the methods used in conducting public affairs duties for preservation issues; expert technical knowledge of architectural conservation principles and practices; skill in developing, negotiating and researching contracts for preservation studies; and ability to review and interpret architectural drawings.

The incumbent must have experience with innovative and unique preservation techniques to assure up-to-date solutions for extending the usefulness of Federal property. Incumbent must be a resourceful researcher, able to solve preservation problems using a broad network of individuals within and outside the agency, hard to locate archival documents, the internet, and unusual sources of information.
Additional assessments may be used, and, if so, you will be provided with further instructions.
If you are eligible under Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan or GSA’s Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP/CTAP), you must receive a score of 85 or higher to receive priority.
