Incumbent reports to the Regional Director. The purpose of this position is to plan, implement, direct, monitor, and evaluate the Trust responsibilities, land and resource management activities and program services and providing assistance to the tribes to accomplish and enhance the social and economic well-being of its members on a long-term continuous basis.
DUTIES:
Protecting of the rights of the Indian People in their trust property and those rights affecting trust property.
Provide technical assistance to the Tribe in the self-determination process and coordinates with monitoring of the Tribal Contracts and Grants through Self-Determination Specialist.
Serve as the line officer in charge of administration of Indian Affairs for the Agency.
Maintain a close working relationship with the Tribal government(s) and Tribal organization(s).
Provide leadership and support to the Region's program management teams composed of members from the agencies, and the Regional office.
Provide positive direction and implementation of supervisory and managerial activities related to equal employment opportunity and ensure merit based practices in the recruitment, selection, training and recognition process.
The following shows the amounts of experience required to qualify for positions covered by this standard.
GS-14: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Administering, supervising, planning, developing and implementing Government-to-Government economic assistance programs, monitor tribal elections to report results, meet and provide presentations and high level briefings to Tribal officials, Congressional, Federal, State, County and City senior officials. Review and analyze Bureau of Indian Affairs mission proposals, serve as the operational officer to implement the Department's trust responsibility and self-determination. Develop economic plans for increased agricultural production and develop oil and gas exploration and production.Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated above, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
