SUMMARY OF DUTIES: is to serve as both an Unmanned Aircraft Operator (AO) and Mission Payload Operator (PO) as well as remain prepared to provide instruction and guidance to Drill Status Guard members.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying a variety of regulations and procedures. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training arranging or procuring transportation for personnel, cargo or freight. Experience in non-routine pre and post auditing of freight bills, bills of lading, and personnel transportation vouchers. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems. *For positions requiring supervisory functions; experience which included responsibility for the supervision and management of personnel.
PHYSICAL EFFORTS: The tactical UAS is typically a smaller aircraft, however, most require 2-man lift procedures for loading, unloading during system emplace and displace. Work assignments require some moderate to strenuous effort. Workers must be able to climb, bend, stoop, and stand for pro-long periods of time. UAS operators are often asked to assist UAS maintainers during and after flight operations. They frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is primarily performed inside an environmentally controlled flight control trailer. Visual inspections of the aircraft and payload as well as participation in launch and recovery activities will occur outdoors. However, since the aircraft is not operated during inclement weather conditions, exposure to severe weather conditions is not common.
MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
--Must posses a minimum Secret security clearance.
--Required to maintain a current class 3 flight duty medical exam (FDME) IAW AR 40-501. Ft. Rucker is the only authorized granting official for any waivers.
--Required to maintain currency per Readiness Level and Flight Activity Category levels designated by the unit commander.
--Required to maintain satisfactory performance on all hands-on, oral and written evaluations per the aircrew training manual TC1-600.
--RL1 soldiers must be current with Annual Proficiency and Readiness Test (APART) requirements per AR 95-23 and TC 1-600.
NOTES TO CANDIDATES:
a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.
c. In addition to your application, documents of last performance appraisal, past civilian performance, letter of recommendations, and or military performance may be submitted.
d. Candidates may be screened and evaluated on military attributes directly related to the compatible military position required to be assigned into, such as, but not limited to, military bearing, leadership, or ability to work with others (teamwork) in a military environment.

l. Selectee may be scheduled for formal training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within the first six months of employment. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, failure to complete National Guard Bureau prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment, may be cause for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination of employment.
m. This temporary limited appointment may be converted to a non-temporary appointment without further competition.
n. If you are selected for this position, you will be eligible for health and life insurance and you will be covered under a retirement system.
o. This type of appointment is expected to extend beyond one year, not to exceed 4 years. Separation will be preceded by a 30-day notice when services are no longer needed. Permanent technicians will remain on permanent status if selected.
p. Selectee informed in advance of the reasons for and conditions of this temporary promotion may return to his/her former grade when temporary action is no longer needed and may be effected at any time without adverse action procedures.
q. Temporary promotion may be extended for an additional two years, not-to-exceed four year, with National Guard Bureau approval.
r. Should the need for temporary time limitations placed on this position no longer exist, the Temporary Promotion may be converted to a permanent action without further competition.
s. Cost of living allowances (COLA) vary from island to island. COLA is subject to change without notice.
