Duties
PM&R staff physicians shall assist the Chief of the PM&R Service in carrying out the mission of the Service including:
- Physiatry care on an inpatient rehabilitation unit including night and weekend call from home.- Consultative physiatry care on inpatient and skilled nursing facility units.
- Outpatient physiatry consultative care including but not limited to pain clinics, prosthetics/orthotics clinics, poly-trauma/Traumatic Brain Injury clinics, and spinal cord injury clinics.
- Procedural diagnostic and therapeutic testing and interventions including electromyography and spasticity management.
- Responsibility for teaching of residents and medical students and supervision of patient care provided by trainees who rotate through the PMR service.
- Participation in departmental administrative duties, medical center committees, and the general teaching functions as delegated by the Chief, PM&R.
Work Schedule: Monday - Wednesday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Basic Requirements:

Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting 15-44 pounds, moderate carrying 15-44 pounds, straight pulling .5 hours, pushing 5 hours, reaching above shoulder, walking 3 hours, standing 4-6 hours, kneeling 1 hour, repeated bending 2 hours, climbing 1 hour, both legs required, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordinating simultaneously, vision 20/24 each eye, both eyes required, depth perception, distinguish basic colors, hearing, emotional and mental stability and at least 70' peripheral in horizontal meridian in each eye.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
