In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression (GS-09) OR- must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity for the position to be filled.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including:
Basic Entry Requirement: This position has a positive education requirement which requires that you have a degree in land surveying or civil engineering with a surveying option or emphasis.
Specialized Experience for the GS-07 Land Surveyor: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in land surveying related work.
Specialized Experience for the GS-09 Land Surveyor: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in land surveying related work. At this level, land surveyors independently perform recurring assignments that are more difficult & complex than those performed by a recent graduate.
Combination of education and experience -- Course equivalent to a major in land surveying or civil engineering as described above, plus appropriate experience or additional education; -OR-
You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604.

BLM manages 245 million surface acres, more land than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western States, including Alaska. The BLM, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
Worland Field Office manages over two million acres of public lands in the southern half of the Bighorn Basin. Located in north central Wyoming, these lands provide a variety of resources and uses including wild horses, wildlife habitat, scenic vistas, recreation opportunities, mineral development, and livestock grazing.
Rawlins Field Office area is mostly high plains with sagebrush and meadows with brilliant colors. The area also has high timbered mountains, world class big game hunting and blue-ribbon trout streams.
