As a Social Science Program Specialist (Victim Assistance Specialist) you will perform the following duties:

Provide direct service to victims, outreach to community victim assistance organizations, and training, technical assistance, support and advice to office staff on a variety of federal victim assistance matters
Administer federal legislation regarding the treatment and provision of services to victims of crime and with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policy
Coordinate with community organizations, Department of Justice components, and other federal, state, and local officials regarding victim assistance

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Education AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.

Basic Education:
You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):
A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
B. Possess a combination of education and experience that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

AND

Specialized Experience:

GS-13: Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level performing duties such as:

Assisting victims with submitting victim compensation applications
Conducting outreach to community victim assistance organizations
Maintaining a manual for providing victims with available local resources
Coordinating the transition of victim assistance responsibilities following indictment
