As Senior Fire Advisor the incumbent:

This is a secondary/administrative fire/law enforcement position under the special retirement provisions of 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) (CSRS) and 5 U.S.C. 8412(d) (FERS). While secondary positions are not subject to the maximum entry age policy, the selectee must have prior service in a primary position and meet the transfer requirement for movement from a primary to secondary position to be eligible for special retirement coverage. To qualify for the GS-14 grade level, 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 is required. Examples of work experience include: performing wildfire program planning and directing long range programs and projects of national significance; working as a state/regional/national recognized consultant and expert in the field of wildland fire and aviation; managing a full range of duties involved in the development and review of fire management programs; applying, interpreting, and developing wildland fire and aviation policies, procedures and standards to diverse audiences at a variety of government levels; advising field officials on program outlooks, agency budget processes and problems at the Congressional and Departmental level; applying administrative management principles and practices, including planning, programming, and budgeting guidelines and processes within a natural resource organization.
