**This is an interdisciplinary job. Series assigned to individual positions under this job will be determined based on the selectee's paramount qualifications at the time of selection.**
The purpose of this position is to (a) supply focus, technical leadership, and quality control primarily for 6.1 efforts, but also 6.2, and 6.3 efforts; (b) serve as senior contact with senior technical leadership within the Army; HQUSACE; USAES; DTRA; National Academy of Science; other Army, Navy, Air Force, and OSD organizations; other federal agencies; academia; the private sector; and foreign national laboratories; (c) develop technology programs; (d) lead a highly diverse and multidisciplinary team of researchers within and external to ERDC; and (e) ensure technology/peer-reviewed publications are of the highest caliber and responsive to Army/DoD needs. The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) directly supports the warfighter by planning, conducting, and coordinating the lead research and development (R&D) mission within the Department of Defense (DoD) in force protection, force projection, maneuver support, and topography. The ERDC also provides critical operational support to the warfighter in theater by providing terrain related information on the battlefield environment. This R&D and operational support are promulgated through interdisciplinary science and engineering, enabling technologies (including high performance computing (HPC), computer-aided analysis, advanced instrumentation, physical and computational experimentation, and full-scale field experimentation and data collection.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
