Duties:
FUNCTIONS:
Clinical:
- Performs comprehensive health, gender/age specific history.
- Performs comprehensive physical examination.
- Uses advanced clinical skills in performing procedures, assessing, analyzing, planning, evaluating, and documenting patient care.
- Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to establish diagnosis.
- Initiates appropriate response to emergency health problems.
- Includes patient and/or family in establishing realistic and measurable goals for the plan of care.
- Orders, and evaluates appropriate diagnostic tests, treatment, and referrals/consultations to other clinical services.
- Documents and reports care in a timely manner.
- Initiates, evaluates, and changes orders for non-controlled, non-experimental medications.
- Maintains appropriate clinical privileges and age-related competencies for selected population with episodic and chronic health problems.
- Works in the designated setting consistent with the collaborating physician's area of and function and/or within the CRNP's specialty Scope of Practice which is defined as those functions and procedures which the CRNP is qualified by formal education, clinical training, area of certification, and experience to perform.
- Collaborates with physicians, peers, and other members of the health care Interdisciplinary Team.
- Demonstrates leadership in improving patient care to effect improvement of Patient Care
- Contributes to improved patient services of CAVHCS and the Mental Health Service Line as determined by the ACOS of Mental Health.
Consults with appropriate administrative staff of CAVHCS to resolve concerns and unmet needs of veterans.
- Participates in health promotion and health maintenance.
Administrative:
- Reads and documents health appraisal data necessary to maintain, coordinate and/or expedite required services.
- Completes interagency and external agency referrals as needed.
- Utilizes the computerized patient record for documentation of clinical assessment, plan of care, ongoing management, and outcomes.
- Enters encounters accurately and timely.
- Participates in Performance Improvement appropriately.
- Adheres to computer information system security policies and guidelines.
- Identifies and reports real or potential problems related to customer service, Equal Opportunity, safety, patient privacy, or others that may adversely impact the Mental Health Service Line.
- Participates on committees at CAVHCS.
Research:
- Participates in research within the boundaries allowed at CAVHCS.
- Reviews and evaluates research based literature relevant to practice.
- Applies research-based findings to practice appropriately.
- Maintains awareness of current trends in research.
Education:
- Assesses educational needs of self and staff to implement changes in the Mental Health Program.
- Assesses the learning needs and capabilities of patients and families.
Implements an educational plan to meet the education/learning needs for self, patients, family, and staff.
- Teaches/counsels patients/families regarding disease processed, treatment, and health status implications.
- Documents educational assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8am - 4:30pm
