As a GS-5 you will be responsible for:
Arranges the annual President’s budget for print and delivery to Congress.
Assists in responding to budget data requests from the Office of the Secretary of Transportation, the Office of Management and Budget and other entities.
Helps analyze trends in the obligations, commitments, and expenditures of funds in monitoring progress made by OIG components against the current year budget plans.
Assists in the preparation of financial spreadsheets essential to track, monitor, and trend budget estimates within approved funding levels.
Aids in reconciling the external and internal financial systems ensuring timely recordings of obligations, expenditures and commitments to evaluate funds availability to plan adjustments or transfers of program balances.
Ensures the processing of invoices and any other expenditures is completed on time and accurately while using external/internal financial systems.
Gathers data and information on budgetary problems and issues related to the obligations and payment processes, reviews the data, and recommends resolution to senior JM-30 staff.
Supports JM-30 staff in preparing and analyzing a variety of recurring budget, financial and other reports. Summarizes queries from financial systems to track obligations, commitments, and expenditures. Recommends obligations to open and close.

You must be a current student in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. This is a temporary Pathways Internship Program appointment not-to-exceed 1 year from the date of appointment.
The incumbent of this position serves as an Intern under the Pathways Program. This program is designed to provide students enrolled at educational institutions at all levels (high school to graduate level) with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore the benefits and conditions of Federal employment. Employment under this authority requires the execution of an Internship Program Participant Agreement that outlines work and academic responsibilities and expectations for the duration of the appointment.
You must not plan to graduate prior to Fall 2020, December 2020 in order to be considered for this position.
The agency may non competitively convert a Pathways Intern to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Intern meets the following: 1. U.S. Citizenship; 2.
