Qualifications:
Experience: All applicants must meet the Selective Factor and the Specialized Experience requirements in order to be minimally qualified for this position. Your application must show written evidence of both requirements:
Selective Factor Requirement:
Knowledge of and experience working in the area of communications and public/media relations in a national and/or international non-profit, cultural or art institution in a major metropolitan area.
Specialized Experience Requirement: GS-14
In addition to meeting the Selective Factor above, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as designing, planning and executing a national and/or international public affairs/communications program (to include advertising, promotions, market research, publications, etc.,) of major scope and significance conveying cultural and strategic information (including visual, social media, and digital platforms) about major complex public programs that inform and educate general and specialized publics about the organization's programs, projects, and activities; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with members of the news media, stakeholders, and specialized groups interested in the organization's programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
