Duties

Help

Major Duties may include, but are not limited to::

  • Responsible for all aspects of managing, maintaining and operating the CGAHR facilities complex;
  • Plans, schedules, supervises, and assesses all of the operations and maintenance work that these facilities require;
  • Develops statement-of-work descriptions, drawing/designs, specifications, and/or program-of­ requirements for all operations and maintenance projects that are outside the capacity of CGAHR personnel to perform;
  • Participates in planning new construction and/or remodeling of the facilities, cooperating with PI's, and adhering to safety regulations for BSL-2 (at CGAHR) and BSL-3 (at KSU/BRI) facilities;
  • Recommends and advises the Center Director, Safety Officer, and Administrative Officer on required repairs of facilities to ensure safe working conditions and maintenance of the facilities, and physical security;
  • Tests and certifies all biosafety-related equipment and instrumentation, and the facilities safety-related systems (autoclaves, airlocks, animal rooms, biosafety cabinets, supply and exhaust air systems, including duct work and HEPA filter housing, gas decontaminating, directional air flow, room and airlock tightness testing, alkaline tissue digester, etc.);
  • Ensures that CGAHR. biological, chemical, and informational technology safety and security plans are followed. This includes receiving and maintaining a Personal Security Level3 (PSL-3) clearance, and participating in the Occupational Health/Safety Programs.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience - Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled.  The specialized experience requirements for this position are:

GS-09: Applicants must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.  The specialized experience requirements for this position include: experience assisting in performing operations, maintenance, repair and upkeep of buildings, structures, utility systems and grounds, scheduling and monitoring preventative maintenance and ensuring all safety regulations are adhered to for all facility constructions, repair and maintenance projects.  OR Education: master’s or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration LL.B or J.D, if related.

GS-11: Applicants must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.  The specialized experience requirements for this position include:  experience independently performing operations, maintenance, repair and upkeep of large building (100,000 sq ft) mechanical systems, industrial size electrical and industrial equipment,  HVAC systems, utility systems and grounds, scheduling and monitoring preventative maintenance and ensuring all safety regulations are adhered to for all facility constructions, repair and maintenance projects.

GS-12: Applicants must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position include: planning scheduling and supervising operations, maintenance, repair and upkeep of large building (100,000 sq ft) mechanical systems, industrial size electrical and industrial equipment,  HVAC systems, utility systems and grounds, developing statement-of-work descriptions, drawings, designs, specifications and /or program requirements,  and ensuring all safety regulations are adhered to for all facility constructions, repair and maintenance projects.
