Major Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid certification for Iowa Pesticide Applicators, including Core and Turf Grass sections.
This position requires the selectee to undergo a Special Agreement Check (SAC), Security Risk Assessment (SRA), and a full background investigation (Moderate Risk/Public Trust – Minimum Background Investigation (MBI)). Any offer made is considered a tentative job offer pending the outcome of the SAC. Retention in the position is contingent on a favorable full background investigation (MBI). The incumbent will be subject to periodic reinvestigations.
Physical Effort:
The operation of heavy equipment requires hard physical work. Considerable strain is caused by the constant motion of this machinery. Subject to constant bending, turning, and reaching; may frequently be required to work in awkward or strained positions. Requires continuous lifting and moving of gas cylinders, active walking, standing, bending, reaching, etc.; frequently handles objects weight over 50 lb. Good eye, hand and arm coordination are required.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in all types of weather and on different types of terrain. Incumbent is exposed to injury due to overturn and subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt and fumes from motor and exhaust. Subject to danger of cuts, bruises, etc. Safety requirements must be observed. Must wear protective clothing and gear for the application of pesticides. Must wear a full face respirator when working in biological control settings; facial hair restrictions may be required to comply with proper operation of personal protective equipment.This is an Essential Employee Position that must report during times of emergency or inclement weather. May also be subjected to call-back situations or to working weekends, evenings, holidays, or after hours when necessary during emergencies, critical periods, or during times when the government is closed due to inclement weather.

Qualification requirements emphasize the quality of experience, not necessarily the length. The responses to the questionnaire and your resume should be in significant detail to provide the person rating your application with a good understanding of your ability to do the job, technical knowledge, work, and training experience, etc. You must have the ability to perform the duties of a Engineering Equipment Operator Leader WL-5716-08, by demonstrating the ability to Lead or Supervise (Screen Out).
