Duties are assigned to meet the demands associated with the Lake Berryessa Resource Area. Park Rangers enhance the quality and diversity of recreation opportunities and experiences, while protecting resource values.
-Develops and executes the Recreation Management program.
-Develops and executes visitor assistance and services programs.
-Develops plans for long-range environmental concerns of the lake and surrounding land area.
-Develops and manages a comprehensive Interpretive Program, including both on and off-site programs.
-Inspects, audits, monitors, and reports resources and programs to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local environmental regulations on Reclamation-owned and operated land, including out-granted facilities.

Applicants must have specialized experience or additional education as defined below:
GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service; OR, 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education; OR, a master's or equivalent graduate degree related to the occupation.
Education: If using education as a means of qualifying, the major field of study must have been in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.
Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, applicants must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
Definition of Specialized Experience: To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:
GS-09: Experience performing technical, administrative, or scientific work, fish and wildlife management, recreation management, or other park-related work. Experience that only includes law enforcement activities will not be considered qualifying as specialized experience. Examples include: park guide or tour leader work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and /or fire management work in a park, recreation or conservation area; management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations; work involving the development or management of comprehensive interpretive programs. These examples are not all inclusive.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
