This position is located in the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Federal Maritime Commission (FMC). In this role, you will perform a variety of functions in support of the mission of the office. These duties will encompass, but are not limited to, researching and analyzing documents, decisions or other material and preparing memoranda or other formal audit documents. This intern position is designed to prepare a student trainee for employment after graduation as an Auditor, GS-0511-07.
The ideal candidate for this position would be pursuing a degree in accounting, business, or finance; experience using information systems and technology; excellent written and oral communication abilities; and have excellent interpersonal skills.
The FMC is an independent regulatory agency with a mission to foster a fair, efficient, and reliable international ocean transportation system and to protect the public from unfair and deceptive practices. The agency carries out regulatory responsibilities by conducting formal and informal investigations. The FMC also adjudicates and mediates disputes involving the regulated entities, the shipping public, and other affected individuals or interest groups.
