This Summer Internship opportunity will start no sooner than May, 2018.
Please note that if you are a Spring 2018 graduate, you will not be eligible for this Internship opportunity unless you are enrolled at a qualifying educational institution seeking an additional degree (diploma, Certificate, degree program, etc.) or an advanced degree. You also must submit proof of acceptance along with your current transcripts for consideration.
Upon successful completion of the Pathways Internship Program and completion of their academic degree or Certificate program, individuals may be non-competitively converted to a Term position or permanent position in the Competitive Service.
This position is located in Silver Spring, Maryland. Applicants must be available to work there for the duration of the appointment.
NOAA is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented students who are pursuing a degree or certificate program in an accredited educational institution for our Intern Program. The NOAA Pathways Internship Program targets students accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled in a degree-seeking or Certificate program at least on a half-time basis. (Applicants who do not meet the definition of student by the closing date of the announcement will not be considered).
This vacancy may be used to fill other Student Trainee (Workforce Development), GS-0199-05 positions throughout NOAA. The position must be alike (e.g. within the same geographic locations, same grade/band and requires the same qualifications as indicated in this vacancy announcement).
*Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.

Performs formative workforce development assignments, such as helping develop workplace evaluation methodologies; assisting in conducting workplace surveys to gather data about organizational structure, administrative procedures, work processes, workload distribution, and organizational health and culture; verifying, analyzing, compiling, and summarizing gathered data and information; ensuring that survey results are disseminated to the correct parties; drafting simple reports on the findings of different surveys; assisting in measuring the relationship between management decisions and the impact they have on workforce management issues; and helping identify the needs, wants, resources, and constraints of the workforce by visiting worksites and discussing the work being performed.
Definition of Student: Student is defined as an individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, or certificate) in a qualifying academic institution, on a half or full-time basis. Half-time is defined by the educational institution in which the student is enrolled. Students do not have to be in actual physical attendance in school, online curriculums are acceptable as long as the school is accredited by the Department of Education:
COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT: Applicants must submit a copy of your college transcript that lists college courses, course title, and number of credit hours. You may submit an unofficial copy of the transcript at the initial phase of the application process, but an official certified copy must be received before you can report to duty.
Proof of Enrollment: NOAA will use applicants transcript as proof of enrollment in the identified college/university. A letter from an educational institution indicating acceptance may be used as proof of enrollment for those students who are continuing studies at a new college or university. An official transcript will be required before you can report to duty.
