The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) is an independent agency of the United States government that provides grants and other assistance to nongovernmental and community-based organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean for innovative, sustainable, and participatory self-help programs.
The incumbent serves as a Congressional and Legislative Affairs Specialist within the Office of External and Government Affairs (EGA). The incumbent is a key part of the IAF team responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relationships and communications with Congressional Members, staffs, and Committees.

Education alone will not qualify for the GS-12 or GS-13 levels.

The duties of this position are suitable for occasional telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval and if they meet the eligibility criterion in the 2010 Telework Act.
Stipulations of Employment:
This term appointment may be extended up to a maximum total period of 4 years or terminated at any time at management's discretion. Selection does not confer eligibility to be promoted or reassigned to other positions or to be non-competitively converted to a career-conditional appointment.
Selection for this term position may require serving a 1-year trial period.
Selection may require completion of a 1-year probationary period.
