This position is located in the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security. As the Training Instructor (Flight Simulator) you will be responsible for instructing and evaluating active Army, National Guard, and Reserve component aviators to determine individual ability to perform duties as an aviator/ instructor/ examiner on the AH-64 "Longbow Crew Trainer" Flight Simulator. Using approved evaluation guidelines, the incumbent will review records to verify that individuals evaluated meet all prerequisites and ensure all required equipment is available for flight. The instructor will crew briefings on mission, weather, flight route, performance data, flight control transfer, and crew duties, to include emergency duties. You will direct the operations of the Flight Simulators, interfacing with contract logistic support personnel to ensure the serviceability and availability of the simulator for training. You will be responsible for maintaining pilot skills necessary to demonstrate flight techniques and procedures to aviators during training and to successfully complete evaluations administered by standardization personnel.

Specialized Experience: Qualified Candidates for this position must identify in their resume that they possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-09) in the federal service that demonstrates the following: Experience such as: Instructor Pilot and Instrument Flight Examiner in the AH-64 Apache/Longbow Crew Trainer Flight Simulator applying and evaluating basic and advanced helicopter flight technique; experience using proper radio communication procedures; experience developing and presenting aviation training scenarios, lesson plans and courses of instruction for classroom or flight simulator environment.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:

To qualify for GS-11: successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position being filled. Combine Experience and Education: You may qualify with less than one year of specialized experience combined with less than three years of graduate-level education, but the total computed percentage of the requirements must equal at least 100% to qualify. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond two years by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
