The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), is one of only two Federally operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD). MAJOR DUTIES:
The incumbent maintains and repairs a variety of woodwind, brass, percussion and orchestral musical instruments, and independently carries out the overhaul, modification, troubleshooting, calibrating, adjusting, regulation and tuning of all types of musical instruments to achieve proper playability and pitch to meet or exceeds manufacturer's original specifications.

Individuals hired from the Continental United States (CONUS) and their family members are required to obtain official passports prior to departure overseas.
Pre-appointment overseas physical examination may be required the selected candidate.
Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a background investigation.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Your background must demonstrate knowledge/experience of instrument repair, manufactures' specifications, and technical orders.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Musical instruments range greatly in size and weight from a piccolo to a bass violin, bass drum, or tuba. The employee must work for extended periods of time in the posture appropriate to the instrument being repaired. Some repairs will require working in cramped or awkward positions. Close eye-and-hand coordination is required in fitting, adjusting, soldering, and repairing parts.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is usually performed in well-lit, heated, and ventilated areas; however, site visits or attendance at musical festivals, concerts, or competitions may require working in less than optimal conditions. The employee is subject to cuts, bruises, burns, and abrasions from operating hand and power tools. Ensures safe working conditions in potentially dangerous situations. Safety clothing and equipment is available to prevent injury while working with hazardous materials and equipment.
EXPERIENCE:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume.

Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) and travel expenses may be authorized.
