This position is located in the Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC).
As a Paramedic, you will respond to on-site accidents and other emergencies involving injuries and illnesses that may potentially be life-threatening. You will be required to make independent preliminary assessments of the patient's condition and select the most appropriate protocol for the given circumstances. You will make modifications to the protocol as necessary and within prescribed limits. You will conduct a complete examination of the patient to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of his/her condition. You will also be required to determine if the patient can be moved and the best way to transport them to the appropriate facility for continued treatment. You will be responsible for prioritizing treatment for patients with multiple issues.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Position requires the individual to complete a Childcare Background Security Investigation Line of Sight
(LOSS) .
Must be able to possess and maintain a valid unrestricted stateside driver's license.
Must be able to possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification from the
American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
Must be National Registry Paramedic(NRP) certified or obtain and maintain certification within one year of
employment.
Must be New York State Certified Paramedic before Entry on Duty and Maintain a Current Status.
Position may require rotating shift work, to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Position requires work in inclement weather conditions.
National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training required within six months of entry on duty.
Acquire and maintain current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support
PALS) certificate within six months of hire date.
Position requires screening for required immunizations and for evidence of tuberculosis. Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
commendations.
Must successfully complete pre-placement and annual medical examinations.
Position may require use of protective clothing and/or uniform.
Position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual
seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be
required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
Acquire and maintain current emergency vehicle operating certificate (EVOC) training within six months of
