This position is that of the Executive Director (ED) for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Pacific located in San Diego, California. MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant is to provide a separate narrative statement to each of the following technical qualifications which describes fully, but concisely, how his/her experience supports each of the following qualifications. EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): The ECQs describe the leadership skills needed to succeed in the Senior Executive Service, and are in addition to the specific technical factors listed above. To assess the executive experience of each candidate, applicants who are applying for their initial career appointment in the SES must demonstrate, with specific examples, how their experience is relevant to exercising leadership in each of the five competencies. Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher engineering degree from an accredited college or university. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by (ABET) as a professional engineering program; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
