In this position, you will be responsible for assisting in the development, coordination, and dissemination of Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) communications tactics and products. Typical assignments include:

Developing, coordinating and disseminating communication products to support proactive, cross-audience communications activities designed to reach internal and external audiences.
Editing and lay out of an internal newsletter on a deadline.
Taking photographs to support news and feature stories and other CDP events.
Drafting, fact checking, and editing a variety of written products.
Interacting with internal and external audiences in order to promote an understanding of the organization's mission and activities.
Organizing, supporting, and coordinating materials for visitor briefings, CDP tours and events, community outreach events, media events, and press conferences.

You qualify for this position at the GS-09 level (starting salary $49,765) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level that demonstrates the following: 1) Writing news releases on routine matters; 2) Providing information to the public on agency programs; 3) Assisting with written products including internal and external news articles, news releases, fact sheets or brochures; and 4) Providing support to community outreach events.

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

A combination of education and experience described above, which meets 100% of the qualification requirement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
