These positions are in the Office of Evaluation and Inspections (OEI), in
OIG/HHS. The mission of OEI is to protect the integrity of HHS
programs, as well as the health and welfare of beneficiaries, by
conducting evaluations and producing reports that provide timely,
useful, and reliable information and advice to decision makers. The
purpose of evaluations includes measuring the effectiveness of
Departmental legislation, policies, and procedures; assessing efficiency
of operations; and identifying vulnerabilities to fraud, waste, and
abuse. These evaluations provide decision makers with current, reliable
data on high-impact, targeted issues important to high level officials.
These positions are for current students enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
This is an
excepted service appointment under the OIG Internship Program and is not to exceed September 30, 2017. This appointment does not allow for non-competitive conversion to a term or permanent appointment in the federal service.
