The primary purpose of this position is: as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer position to serve as the Senior ART/Intelligence Squadron (IS) Commander, assigned to the ISR Group under the 10 AF (AFRC). This IS Commander is responsible for executing global ISR operations in support of Numbered Air Forces, Combatant Commanders and National Agencies with operational and strategic implications. The IS Commander is a senior leader who plans, manages, and oversees through assigned commanders the intelligence activities and operations of the ISR Group.
- Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Intelligence Squadron (IS). Exercises responsibility and authority for planning and managing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's operations, providing strategic and operational leadership, and communicating the strategic plan, mission, vision, and values, for all ISR operations, training, and readiness programs for the highly technical and complex multi-disciplined organization and subordinate units.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Exercises technical and administrative supervision over a highly experienced staff of analytic, operational, and support personnel responsible for the planning and management of highly complex analytic support and ISR operational functions.
- Manages ISR training and readiness for the squadron. Reports unit readiness posture under the Status of Resources and Training System (SORTS) and Air Expeditionary Forces (AEF) Reporting Tool (ART).
- Staff Duties. Performs various staff duties as assigned by the supervisor. Accomplishes and coordinates staff work.
- Performs as a certified ISR Operations Commander. Regularly serves as an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Operations Commander to execute assigned ISR missions.

Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties.
Applicant must be commissioned or commissionable as an ART Officer in the Air Force Reserve. Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, Air Reserve Technicians are required to maintain their active membership in the Air Force Reserve unit where assigned. As members of Reserve units, Air Reserve Technicians receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
