This position is in the Maintenance Division at Harry S Truman National Historic Site (HSTR) Independence, Missouri. The position is supervised by the Facility Operations Specialist.
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

Physical Demands: Incumbent works in shops, other buildings, and at construction and repair sites. Climbs on ladders and scaffolds. Work requires reaching overhead, bending, kneeling, and other awkward positions. Lifts heavy objects such as rafters and beams. Carry objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Harry S Truman NHS was established by public Law 98-32 (May 23, 1983) which authorized the National Park Service to acquire the Truman Home in Independence, Missouri and to establish the National Historic Site,12 miles east of Kansas City and Grandview, Missouri, 20 miles south of Independence. Both are adjacent to metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri. Subsequent legislation added four buildings to the site in Independence and five additional buildings and five acres in Grandview, 20 miles away. Harry S Truman NHS was established to preserve and interpret the former home of Harry S Truman the 33rd President and four other family related structures, for the inspiration and benefit of present and future generations. All park sites lie within easy access of interstate 70 and 435 and 71 Highway. Major shopping facilities, transportation, and hospitals are within a ten-mile radius. Climate ranges from an average of 95° F plus in the summer to an average of 35° F in the winter.
