For the GS-05: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-04 level, or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. Specialized experience is defined as possessing ALL of the following:
- responding to inquiries in person, via email, and on the telephone; AND
- reviewing files and documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines AND
- managing documents using automated systems such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: four (4) years of education above the high school level.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-5 you must have been at the GS-4level for 52 weeks.
