As the Contact Representative in this position, you will:

Act as the face of the district, interacting with the public face-to-face and over the phone.
Provide information regarding the BLM's mission, map purchases, area archeology and area history.
Provide information to members of the public on types of recreational opportunities available in the area.
Explain rules related to the use of recreational areas and facilities
Inform and persuade contacts to obtain greater public cooperation in protecting resources from fire, vandalism, pollution and litter, as well as other improper or prohibited activities.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) performing research on legal documents to advise others on land statuses; (2) assisting in the resolution of problems relating to assigned projects; (3) inputting monies received into a collections and billing system; and (4) explaining information or ideas (orally and in writing) to others in a logical manner.

Status merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).
